REFLEXION NETWORKS REPORTS FIRST QUARTER SALES UP 74 PERCENT
Company Finds Strong Market for Hosted IT Services Despite Weak Economy
Woburn, MA, April 13, 2009 — Reflexion Networks, a leading provider of hosted email and Web security services, today announced that its sales results for the first quarter of 2009 increased 74% over the year earlier period, with a 21% gain over the fourth quarter. During the quarter Reflexion added over 400 new customers and almost 100 new IT solution providers to its global sales channel.
Hosted information technology (IT) services are provided over the Internet, in a model often described as "Cloud Computing," to signify performance of the service outside the corporate infrastructure, rather than through hardware and software installed in the customer's offices. This approach delivers functionality as an on-demand, pay-as-you-go subscription service that is sometimes compared to the delivery of utilities to consumers. This "software as a service" (SaaS) model generally saves staff time, requires less on-site technical expertise, avoids capital expenditure, and costs less than on-site alternatives.
Reflexion's hosted email security service protects email inboxes, blocking spam, viruses, and other malware, providing greater control over email delivery, and helping users identify unauthorized address-sharing. The company also offers hosted services for email archiving, e-discovery and retrieval, as well as for email continuity during business interruptions.
"While newspapers are full of stories about the financial woes of mega-corporations, the small business sector provides room for optimism," said David Hughes, Reflexion's president and chief executive officer. "Reflexion continues to grow steadily, and our top solution provider partners are projecting double digit growth in 2009."
Remote Technology Management LLC, in Canton, Massachusetts, is one such solution provider experiencing rapid growth. According to Eric Brown, the president and chief executive officer, "In this difficult economic climate, companies are particularly receptive to the savings that can be achieved with hosted IT services and the remote management of their infrastructure. We are very busy keeping up with demand."
"Favorable economics make hosted IT services the wave of the future," said Hughes. "If some of that federal stimulus money ever found its way to the small business sector, I think you'd see significant job creation as a result."
